Press Conference

YORBA LINDA- Nancy Stevens, a resident since 1977, has expressed concern for her safety because of violent threats against her and her family. The mother of three grown children was in the process of starting up a program to slow down speeders that she observed threatening the safety in her neighborhood.

Stevens, 53, had made up yellow stickers to put in the rear window of cars that would control the speeders and report people who broke the law. In a press conference this morning, she shared that the program has been terminated because of the reaction from her neighborhood.

"There have been threats to my safety, my car, and my family. I've given up. The program is done," Stevens announced.

The city council has done nothing to help stop the threats. She claims that they are impressed with the program and supportive of her efforts, but can't protect her.

Stevens expressed concern because her neighbors are "ripping down (her) street, going five miles over the speed limit."

Her house is now up for sale and the family has plans to move.
