Stephen Glass

My reaction to this movie is pity. Steve clearly just wanted to be successful, and the immense pressure of the media world got under his skin and caused him to lie about the credibility of his stories.

I can imagine what it would be like to work in such a high profile news outlet- you feel the need to impress and perform and excel. Steve clearly didn't have the skills of a good truth-seeker, and so he turned to lies.

It is sad, yes, but at the same time, he is clearly in the wrong field. He should be writing stories that are actually supposed to be fiction. Seeing a clip from this film made me want to ensure that I never make up even one source, because it can escalate to Steve's kind of storytelling.
